Social Security Pension

The Social Security Pension provided by the Social Justice Department, Kerala, is a monthly financial assistance scheme for eligible citizens of Kerala.

  • Monthly Pension Amount: ₹2,000
  • Approximately 62 lakh people receive the pension.
  • An amount of ₹14,500 crore has been allocated in the 2026–27 Budget for social security pensions.

Agricultural Workers’ Pension

The Agricultural Workers’ Pension is a social security pension scheme provided by the Government to workers engaged in agricultural activities. The objective of the scheme is to provide basic financial assistance to agricultural workers who are unable to continue working due to old age.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹2,000 per month. Applications for the benefit must be submitted online through the website:

Eligibility Criteria for Agricultural Workers’ Pension

  1. The applicant’s annual family income should not exceed ₹1 lakh.
  2. The applicant must be 60 years of age or above.
  3. The applicant should not be a service pensioner or a person receiving a family pension. This condition does not apply to those receiving ex-gratia/NPS pension up to ₹4,000.
  4. The applicant must have been a permanent resident of Kerala for at least 10 years.
  5. The applicant should not be an income-tax payer.
  6. The applicant must have worked as an agricultural labourer under a landowner for 10 years or more.
  7. The applicant or the applicant’s family should not own more than 2 acres of land. This condition does not apply to applicants belonging to the Scheduled Tribe category.
  8. The applicant must be a member of the Agricultural Workers’ Welfare Fund.
  9. The applicant or any family member should not own a non-taxi vehicle with an engine capacity exceeding 1000 cc and having four or more wheels, except an Ambassador car.
  10. The applicant should not be a plantation worker.
  11. The applicant should not be receiving salary, pension, or family pension from the Central Government or any other State Government.
  12. The applicant must be destitute.
  13. The applicant should not have retired from a Central or State Public Sector Undertaking and be receiving pension/family pension under the scheme of that institution.
  14. Persons already receiving other social welfare pensions are not eligible, except persons with disabilities. Including EPF, a person is eligible for a maximum of two pensions only.
  15. The applicant should not be receiving social security pension from another local government.
  16. The applicant should not be a beggar.
  17. The applicant should not be an inmate of a destitute home.
  18. The application must be submitted to the Local Self Government Institution where the applicant is permanently residing.
  19. The applicant should not own or reside in a concrete building having a floor area of more than 2,000 sq. ft. with modern flooring.

Documents to be Submitted for Agricultural Workers’ Pension

  1. Release certificate from the Agricultural Workers’ Welfare Fund Board.
  2. Age proof certificate.
  3. Permanent residence certificate.
  4. Income certificate attested by the Village Officer.
  5. Aadhaar Card.
  6. Electoral Card.
  7. Ration Card.
  8. Bank Passbook (applicable only if a bank account is selected for receiving the pension).
  9. EPF Passbook/related document (applicable only to those receiving an EPF pension below ₹4,000).

 

Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme

The Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) is a social security pension scheme implemented by the Government of India. It is part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) under the Ministry of Rural Development. The objective of the scheme is to provide monthly financial assistance to economically disadvantaged elderly persons.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹2,000 per month. Applications for the benefit must be submitted online through:

Eligibility Criteria for Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension

  1. The applicant’s annual family income should not exceed ₹1 lakh.
  2. The applicant must be destitute.
  3. The applicant should not be a service pensioner or a person receiving a family pension. This condition does not apply to those receiving ex-gratia/NPS pension up to ₹4,000.
  4. The applicant should not be dependent on or under the protection of another person.
  5. The applicant should not be an income-tax payer.
  6. Persons receiving other social welfare pensions are not eligible, except persons with disabilities. Including EPF, a person is eligible for a maximum of two pensions only.
  7. The applicant or the applicant’s family should not own more than 2 acres of land. This condition does not apply to Scheduled Tribe applicants.

  9. The applicant or any family member should not own a non-taxi vehicle with an engine capacity exceeding 1000 cc and having four or more wheels, except an Ambassador car.

Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme

The Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) is a social security scheme implemented by the Government of India. It is part of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and is implemented through the Ministry of Rural Development. The objective of the scheme is to provide monthly financial assistance to economically disadvantaged persons with severe disabilities.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹2,000 per month. Applications must be submitted online through:

Eligibility Criteria for Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme

  1. The applicant’s annual family income should not exceed ₹1 lakh.

  12. The applicant must produce a medical certificate proving the disability or an identification card issued by the Social Security Mission.
  13. The applicant should not have retired from a Central or State Public Sector Undertaking and be receiving pension/family pension under the scheme of that institution.
  14. There is no age limit for the applicant.
  15. The applicant should not be receiving social security pension from another local government.
  16. The applicant should not own or reside in a concrete building having a floor area of more than 2,000 sq. ft. with modern flooring.

Pension for Unmarried Women Above 50 Years of Age

The Pension for Unmarried Women Above 50 Years of Age is a social security scheme implemented by the Government of Kerala. The objective of the scheme is to provide monthly financial assistance to economically disadvantaged women who remain unmarried.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive ₹2,000 per month. Applications must be submitted online through:

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant’s annual family income should not exceed ₹1 lakh.
  2. The applicant must have completed 50 years of age.
  3. The applicant should not be a service pensioner or a person receiving a family pension. This condition does not apply to those receiving ex-gratia/NPS pension up to ₹4,000.
  4. The applicant must be unmarried.
  5. The applicant should not be an income-tax payer.
  6. Persons who have applied for other social welfare pensions are not eligible, except persons with disabilities. Including EPF, a person is eligible for a maximum of two pensions only.
  7. The applicant or the applicant’s family should not own more than 2 acres of land. This condition does not apply to Scheduled Tribe applicants.

  1. Death Certificate of the husband / certificate stating that the husband has been missing for 7 years / certificate proving abandonment (applicable only to applicants who have completed 50 years of age).
  2. Certificate proving permanent residence in Kerala for at least 2 years at the time of application.
  3. Income certificate.
  4. Copy of Aadhaar Card.
  5. Copy of Electoral Card.
  6. Copy of Ration Card.
  7. Copy of Bank Passbook (applicable only if a bank account is selected for receiving the pension).
  8. Certificate stating that the applicant has not remarried.
  9. EPF Passbook/related document (applicable only to those receiving an EPF pension below ₹4,000).
  10. Age proof certificate.
