BUDGET

As per Section 214 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, it is the mandatory duty of every Panchayat to approve its budget before the commencement of the financial year. Since the announcement of the election to the State Legislative Assembly is expected, the budget for the financial year 2026–27 has to be approved earlier than usual. We are now at the stage of presenting the budget.

First of all, I extend a warm welcome to the esteemed elected representatives and all others who have attended this meeting.

Our governing body is committed to ensuring housing, drinking water, transportation facilities, and well-lit streets for everyone.

The budget for the financial year 2026–27 has been prepared by giving priority to the production and housing construction sectors.

Special attention has been given to women’s empowerment, projects aimed at bringing persons with disabilities into the mainstream, and the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes while preparing the budget.

Good roads are a symbol of the development of a region. Therefore, giving priority to the infrastructure sector, various projects have been formulated by allocating, in addition to the funds received from the State Government, the maximum possible amount from the Panchayat’s own funds.

Providing houses to all homeless families is one of the most important objectives of our governing body. Therefore, the maximum possible funds have been allocated for the LIFE Housing Scheme and house renovation activities.

Due importance has been given to all major sectors, including Health, LIFE Mission, Haritha Keralam Mission, Biodiversity Conservation, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Public Education, Scheduled Caste Development, Scheduled Tribe Development, Social Security Pensions, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), and Anganwadis.
